I love the Ball Heritage Collection Mason Jars!
I purchased a set of the blue, green, and the final color, purple, just because I wanted to have them. You have seen the blue ones in some of my home decor projects, but the green and purple ones have just been sitting in my craft closet waiting for me to find a purpose for them.
For the Christmas season, I came up with a simple candle project for the green pint jars, that are adorable, but it does not damage the jars in any way so I can always reuse them later for another purpose. In fact, you can make these jar wraps for any season or purpose.
For this project I used:
- 6 Spring Green Pint Jars from Ball’s Heritage Collection
- Ashland White Denim Ribbon – you can find it here on Amazon
- Velcro dots
- Green and red Sharpie markers
- Battery operated tea lights
- Grid paper
To start the project, I wrapped the denim fabric around one of the jars and cut it to fit. The denim ribbon fabric is about 6 inches in width, which is much too wide for the project so I measured and cut each strip in half to around 3 inches each. I cut six strips, one for each jar.
The ribbon comes with frayed edges so after cutting it in half I then needed to fray the new edges to match.
To create the “Peace” letters and modern shaped Christmas tree, I simply just drew them on the grid paper noting the height of only about two inches per letter to fit. I cut the letters out and traced them in pencil onto the “middle” of the ribbon. Then it was very easy to trace the outline of each letter in either a red or green Sharpie fine point marker. The letters alternate between red and green markers for each jar.
To attach the ribbon to the jar without using glue, remember I didn’t want to make anything permanent for the jars, I used the Velcro dots to secure the ends of the ribbons together.
After that it was just a matter of turning on the battery operated tea lights – again no damage to the jars from real tea lights, and put them out for display for the season.
I love that I will be able to remove the denim ribbons and easily store them for next year, and that they can be used again on any other color pint sized mason jar.
