Last week I shared how we found water damage and rotten wood in our front living room and how we had decided to not only replace the floors but to give this room a much needed overhaul – a very long overdue overhaul.
I have waited a long time to just to replace the stained carpet in this room, so imagine how excited I am to finally make it more like I have envisioned it to be for years.
So let’s get started.
The first thing that will happen is to repair and replace the rotten subfloors and replace it with a new, lighter color laminate floor.
At the same time we will be replacing the two large back windows and repairing the damaged walls.
I’ve already been meeting with window companies and so far the sticker price is exactly as expensive as I was expecting it to be! Yikes!
Then we will finally move on the removing and replacing the black paneled walls.
The dated track lighting will be replaced but we plan on keeping the beams.
And the last step will be to furnish the new room with pieces we will purchase, already have, or that are already in the plans for a DIY makeover.
The entire project will take the rest of the year because in the next few months we have our son’s wedding, and a couple’s wedding shower to plan, as well as a 25th Anniversary trip for my husband and I (this is a must!)
