Welcome back to the Monthly Craft Room De-Stash Challenge and Linkup. This month I used what I already had in my craft room to make a cheerful sign for my mantel.

This month I decided to create a cheerful sign for my mantel as a temporary decoration until the holiday season.
Bless This Modern Home Canvas Art Sign
For this project you will need;
- 16″ x 20″ Art Canvas
- Sharpie Markers
- Stencils in styles of your choice
- Ruler
My project this month was created from supplies I have had in my craft room for some time and did not cost me anything to create. I thought of this quote for a wood sign and even attempted to make one but didn’t like how it looked. It would have been too small for my mantel anyway. I decided to use a 16″ x 20″ art canvas I already had on hand, Sharpie markers, and the stencils I purchased a few weeks ago from Walmart to create this custom art piece for the large mantel in our newly renovated family room.
I am anxiously waiting for the windows to be replaced in our rental house, The Bradford Street House, so that I can put one of the old rustic windows on our large mantel. But we are still waiting for the installers to call so I needed something in place on the mantel until then or when I decorate it for Christmas. Paired with the Chevron board I painted last year, the canvas art appears to take up more space on the very long mantel.
My original plan for a decoration for our mantel is one of the old windows out of our rental house, The Bradford Street House. However, we are still waiting for an installation date on the new windows so this canvas art sign is a nice addition until then. I find that I like how it looks up there so who knows, it may actually find a more permanent place on the mantel after all.

Donna this is such a great project! I love the chevron panel — it really sets off your other piece. I would really love to join the craft room de-stash challenge but I’m going to hold off for just a bit but will follow you on FB.
Thanks Lauren. I look forward to seeing more of your projects.
I love to see cool things created from your crafty destash challenges. The canvas sign is a great idea anyone could make with stencils and sharpies. Stopping by from the #HomeMattersParty linky. Have a great week!
Love the color combo you used to create the sign. #HomeMattersParty
I like it! It’s a nice fresh change. Love your fireplace with the beautiful rock surround!
Thanks Florence.
What a beautiful mantel! Your sign looks perfect there, especially paired with the chevron one. Shared!
Thanks for visiting Teresa
You’re so like me, canvas just laying around, lol. I think your sign turned out beautifully, love the color combo!
Thanks Megan
Nice work! I love your mantel – the old window will fit on it nicely, I am sure.
Thanks. I can’t wait to put a window up there.
Your artwork is perfect. Even when you get the window to display this is a nice piece to either keep on the mantel or display in another spot.
Thanks so much. I think I will keep it on the mantel all year.
I love the colors you chose for your sign! It looks great! I’m excited to see how you work with the window, too! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
