Here in the mountains of East TN the fall foliage really comes to life with the amazing colors of yellow, red, and gold.  These fall colors inspired my latest painted pallet sign project. #fallleaves #fallprojects

The fall colors will only last a few days but they are truly breathtaking. My pictures just don’t do them justice but I’m sharing them anyway.
A few years ago I painted a pallet sign project that was double sided for Spring and Winter seasons that I display at my side entrance. You can read about both projects here and here. Since then I have wanted to create another set of painted pallets for Fall and Christmas. I recently acquired another pallet but it is not built the same on both sides to be able to make it a double sided sign, however, I was still interested in painting it for a fall themed sign. My inspiration is the above pictures from previous fall seasons and how beautiful it is in Smoky Mountains during the fall.
The first thing I did was apply a coat of stain to the pallet with MinWax Early American stain and allowed it to dry overnight.
To create the basic shape of a tree, I drew the outline of the trunk and branches with chalk. Then I used acrylic paints to paint in the details of the trunk and branches.
Painting the leaves was a fun and creative process. I just painted in small ovals shapes in green, yellow, orange, and bronze throughout the branches of the tree.
I knew I wanted to add some sort of fall saying or phrase but could not come up with anything that seemed right for the tree design. That is until my husband saw the project and suggested I use the verse from Ecclesiastes 3:1. It was the perfect addition to the project.
” For everything there is a season, a time for every matter under Heaven”

I love this idea and will enjoy making something similar next month when the weather cools down a bit. Thank you for the process pictures and tips on prepping the pallet. Finally will use our pile of old pellets for something better than feeding fall outdoor fires.
Glad you like it. I have enough it every Fall season for the last couple of years and plan to put it back in place later today. Thanks for visiting.
Wow, those fall leaves are gorgeous! Your pallet sign turned out great, and that has always been one of my favorite Bible selections.
Thanks Lorelai
