Decorate Adorable Pillows With A Easy Cricut Home Decor Idea
I got two really cute dog pillows for 50 cents each at Walmart’s clearance cart. I wish there were more, but I’m happy to have at least two matching pillows.
When I bought them, I wanted to use them for a creative project to make my living room look more fun. I had a few ideas, like using a Sharpie or thread to add some character to the pillows. I ended up using my Cricut and Iron-on Vinyl to turn the pillows into something very fun and functional.

This post is part of the monthly Creative Craft Blog Hop, where I co-host each month with Sara of Birdz Of A Feather blog.
At the bottom of this post, I will direct you to the next blogger on the list to continue your journey of some wonderful and creative projects.

Start with your imagination and what you already have on hand
If you have read my blog more than once, you know that I am a lover of dogs. I only purchase pillows made with durable outdoor fabric because of my dogs, and since they are usually kicked off the sofas anyway, I don’t spend much on replacing them. I like them to be easy to clean and to replace. So finding these cute outdoor pillows with dogs on them for such a low price is a good win.
Now that Christmas is over and I’ve pulled the pillows out of storage, it’s time to make these cut pillows even more special with my own style and creativity, with help from my Cricut maker.
When I bought the pillows, I imagined the dogs’ heads adorned with party hats, crowns, and other bling.
Cricut Design Space app had all the images I needed for this DIY project.

A couple of years ago, I hosted two baby showers for grandbabies #2 and #3, born four months apart, and created a Onesie Decorating Station activity for each party. In my craft room stash, I still had a bag of iron-on vinyl scrap pieces from both parties, just waiting for me to come up with Cricut ideas to use them up.
I love DIY home projects that don’t cost me extra money and use up long-forgotten craft supplies!

Using up the old scraps of heat transfer vinyl, I cut out glittery gold crowns, pink glitter bows, bling dog collars, and festive party hats.

Next was the best part!
I didn’t have a plan for where to put each cutout. I just went with the flow and figured it out as I worked on the pillows. Using my Cricut Mini Heat Press made it super simple to attach the iron-on vinyl cutouts to the pillows.

Turn everyday pillows into personalized home decor.
This simple idea to turn store clearance pillows into custom throw pillows shows that Cricut home decor ideas are a great way to make a big difference with very little effort.
As a homeowner, Interior Designer, and blogger, I have spent years on DIY home decor projects. Cricut project ideas are a great source of inspiration and wonderful ways to personalize your home.

Remember to Pin!

These pillows were cute before, but now they are so much more fun. I have always believed that you can create home design ideas that are playful and functional. Creating a home you love is serious business, but you don’t have to be boring about it.

So cute, Donna! I love the Cricut Accessories on the puppies. It’s great you found a fabric you could update. Our local fabric store is closed, and I have been having issues finding the right place to buy fabric. I do Cricut Maker and didn’t even think about adding things to fabric and making a pillow. Great idea! Thanks for sharing your steps.
Thanks for visiting Sabrina. Good luck on the fabric hunt.
Oh my, Donna. These are absolutely adorable! You really added character to those sweet pups. Pinned.
Donna, these pillows are so cute. Who doesn’t love puppy pillows and doggy decor? Great way to use iron-on scraps. Thank you for hosting this month.
I’m crazy about this project Donna! I consider myself a lover of dogs too, but sadly can’t have one because Hubs is allergic. But that doesn’t mean I can’t decorate with them. Even if I can’t find dog pillows, I can always sublimate my own version and still do this. It would also make a great gift idea for my sister (she has two dogs).
Donna, those pillows are adorable. Who doesn’t love doggy decor! What great conversation starters! It’s great to use up supplies we already have on hand. Thanks for hosting this month.
Donna, your pillows are absolutely darling! I love the creative personalization–pinned! Thanks for hosting, Cecilia – My Thrift Store Addiction
Your pillows are beyond precious and delightful, Donna! I’ve avoided getting a Cricut but your lovely project might make me reconsider! Thanks!
Thanks Gail. Cricut machines are fun. I have yet to learn all that it can do though, but I keep learning more each time.
