Easy To Make Felt Pom Pom Acorns For Fall Crafting
I don’t know why I have tried this easy craft project sooner.
My backyard has massive oak trees that graciously drop thousands of acorns and acorn caps all over the yard this time of the year.
I am not exaggerating on the thousands estimate either.
This project only requires three things to make: acorn caps, felt pom-poms, and hot glue gun!
All that to say I have no real excuse for not making these felt pom pom acorns before now.

Repurposing nature’s little gifts.
In previous years, I have gathered cupfuls of large acorns to make a few fall-themed wreaths and crafts with them or display them in glass jars during the late season. However, using real acorns in your decor also brings other uninvited guests along for the fun. These guests either wiggle or have multiple legs when they crawl out of the acorns.
I have found it is best to leave the real acorns outside for the squirrels and deer to eat.
So before I even used just the acorn caps for this project, I made sure they got a thorough cleaning in hot water.
This felt craft is easy and one of the most inexpensive projects to make to bring different colors into your decor this fall.
At Hobby Lobby, I purchased a bag of small pom poms in an assortment of Fall colors for less than $2.00. My guess is that this bag has around 50+ pom poms. In the Fall seasonal aisle of Hobby Lobby I found small bags of 8-10 premade pom pom acorns as well, but the price was more than $2 for just a few faux pom poms. With their discount sales, it is not a bad deal if you don’t have the acorn caps available in your own yard.
Since I have an abundant supply of acorn caps readily available, I might as well use them. Besides, making this adorable felt craft at home with a bag of multicolored pom poms is a great way to add different colors to a seasonal display.
After the acorn caps had dried overnight I sat down at the table and crafted my faux pom pom acorns together.
Two steps is all it takes. Add some hot glue inside the acorn cap and press in one of the pom poms into the cap. Repeat this process until you have as many of these adorable faux pom pom acorns as you want or need.
These faux pom pom acorns are one of those easy crafts to make, but think of all of the ways you can now use these adorable little nuggets in your Fall decor.
Display in a small bowl or glass jar as part of a tiered tray display or centerpiece.
Create a colorful garland for your mantel by hot gluing the faux acorns along a string of jute twine.
Scatter these along the edge of a bookshelf with small velvet pumpkins.
Glue floral wire to the caps as decorative stems in a floral arrangement.
Glue the faux pom pom acorns to the ends of the branches for a beautiful rustic and nearly natural-looking vase display.
Let the kids use them as pieces in a tic tac toe game or a counting game.
Kids will love making this fun craft with you if you have been looking for craft ideas to make with them. Minus the hot glue gun of course. This simple felt craft is a great idea especially if the kids are already familiar with felt projects.
I am fully aware that not everyone has a wooded lot filled with large oak trees that generously drop natural craft supplies nearly on their doorstep. However, you can buy these same supplies in bulk online, or even similar premade faux pom pom acorns to use in your Fall decor. Either way, these are just too adorable to pass up.

Those pom pom acorns are absolutely adorable! I’m also lucky enough to have access to tons of acorns, but still haven’t made anything using them. This is a great crafting idea and good to know you can buy the tops online for those that don’t easy access.

These are adorable and I love that you left the acorns for the wildlife Donna! I did a painted acorn project years ago and still feel guilty that I reduced the food supply so this is such a great idea.
Our neighbourhood sidewalks are littered with the caps and it would be no problem to clean to them up. I bet the neighbours would even appreciate it :).
