Fall Themed Garland
- Clothes Pins
- Assorted Acrylic Paints in Fall Colors
- White Denim Fabric
- Craft Brushes
- Jute Twine
- Thumb tacks
- Pencil
- Scissors
The first thing I did was to paint the clothes pins in fall colors such as brown, burgundy, yellow and orange. I was surprised at how quickly the wood clothes pins soaked up the paint so it actually took three coats to fully cover each pin.
Next, I threaded the jute twine through the clothes pins by inserting the twine through the small hole in the center of the clothes pin, then wrapping the twine around the pin once and looping it through to make a knot before continuing the process through another pin.
I had originally planned to make fall themed cutouts like leaves from the bright fall colored fabric, but just couldn’t “picture” it in my mind so I opted for a different look. Instead, I cut a small square from the white denim ribbon from my stash (I have used this for so many other projects and love it). Then I traced and cut out banner type triangles out of each square.
Plant Smiles, Grow Giggles, Harvest Love
My inspiration for the next part of the project I actually saw on a dish towel and I have adapted it for my own project. It is an adorable quote that says, “Plant Smiles, Grow Giggles, Harvest Love”. Using a pencil to write the letters, it was so easy to create my own version of this saying and then painting over it with the brown acrylic paint. I hand painted the pumpkins and leaves.

What a great project! Isn’t this group fun? It makes me do something with my overflowing craft supplies more often, but I wish I could get to my supplies even more than once a month… soon!
Thanks Emily. I think I am going to enjoy this group a lot.
I am so going to have to check out your group! I am wanting to destash and make projects from what i currently have on hand. #HomeMattersParty
Thanks Sheena. I enjoyed it last month and look forward to Septembers challenge as well.
This is such a sweet garland for Fall. Thanks for sharing your inspiration. Stopping by from the #HomeMattersParty this week.
What a cute idea!! I loved the idea of wrapping the jute around the through the clothespin. I’ll have to use that idea on my next banner.
Thanks Chelsea
Inspiration can come from anywhere and I love how you put it on the banners. I don’t have very many Fall decorations either. And this one looks adorable and not too involved. Thanks for sharing so I can get some inspiration, too.
Thanks Susan and thanks for visiting!
Hey Donna! This is so great! I love that it’s so versatile and you could totally switch it up for a Holiday project too! I featured this today on my blog if you’d like to come take a look! Thanks for inspiring so many!
Thanks Courtney
This is so cute! I think something similar would look nice on my front door.

Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!
How cute and festive this is. It will add such a holiday flair to your celebrations.
I love how versatile this craft is and I am glad you showed us this idea! I’ll be looking forward to other projects from your new craft room!
Thanks for visiting. Can’t wait to see what everyone creates next month.
Donna, considering how your craft room is right now, I’m sure it was hard to join up with the Challenge this time. It was hard for me too b/c I procrastinated & couldn’t think of anything for the longest time. I can so relate to how you said you don’t do much Fall decorating. I don’t ever make it to the stores either. Love your banner though, and the quote you used….very cute! Inspires me to do a banner. I had half an idea to do one, but I couldn’t picture an idea.
Thanks Florence and best of luck for next month. It is hard sometimes to come up with something. I have been a part of this group for three months but couldn’t come up with something either before now. Hope to see a project from you next month.
This fall garland is adorable!!
Really adorable. The quotes are really perfect and I am going to copy how you painted the clothes pins. They make so much difference. Love your swag banner. Pinning to my fall board.
Thanks Leanna
This is cute! I really love the quote you used! 🙂
Thanks. I can’t wait to see what everyone has done too.
