Interior Design Tricks to Brighten Up a Dark Room
Lightening up a dark room does not require major renovation because it could get very expensive and time consuming. So, if you’re having a hard time with a space that gets less natural light, then you don’t need to think about some big changes in the interior. Because a few simple renovation tricks can make your space much brighter and sunnier in no time. Let’s find out some of the best and easy ways to decorate a dark room and turn it into a brighter and livelier place.
Trees and Windows
Start off by cleaning the windows and trimming the trees and bushes that are cushioning the windows and blocking the sun light to come into your room. By regularly trimming the trees, make way for the light to reach the window and brighten up your room.
Repaint the Room
Paint your room with some neutral matte color. Light colors reflect the light. A coat of white paint on the ceiling can brighten up a dark room instantly. Just make sure you choose the pure white color for the ceiling, no other shades of white.
Install Various Lighting Sources
Avoid heavy overhead light fixture and go for light ones such as crystal chandeliers. Crystals will not only reflect the light from the bulbs but also enhance the decor. Well, a single light fixture isn’t enough to lighten up the room. For example, in a bedroom, it is very important to have a lamp or candle holder on both side tables of the bed.

You can also place a Himalayan salt lamp on the side table for more aesthetic appeal. These salt lamps will add beauty and warm glow to the room and make it more vibrant. These lamps also act a natural air purifier, so it is an extra benefit you will get by having one or two salt lamps in your room. You can get different kinds of Himalayan salt lamps in bulk from Ittefaq Salt -one of the largest Himalayan salt suppliers.
If you have more space in the room then you can also place more floor lamps to make sure that every nook and cranny of the room is well lit.

Accessorize
Accessorize the room with things that won’t take up much room space and are of light colors. You can add printed cushions over a plain couch, or plain bright cushions over a patterned, light colored couch.
A light colored furry or patterned rug will not just define the specific area in your room but it will also brighten up the room and show off your aesthetic.
Get rid of any heavy and dark shade curtains because dark color absorbs light. Hang light colored curtains with some pattern, so that light can pass through them.
Incorporate Mirrors in the Decor
The more the light bounces off the reflective surfaces in the room, the more it will make it brighter and sunnier. Mirrors are just the perfect tools for this purpose. Place one or more mirrors opposite the window to reflect as much sun light as possible.
