My dining room was once stuck in the 1970’s mode.
When we bought the house it came complete with brown paneling, chair rail, grape vine themed wallpaper boarder above the chair rail, carpet – yes carpet on the floors – and a very gold crystal beaded chandelier.
I wish I had been blogging at the time so that I would have taken a picture of that fancy beaded chandelier that looked nothing like a modern home should have.
Since then I have replaced the chandelier with a more modern pendent and have been slowing changing the dining room to a more modern black, white and orange dining room.
Update from 2018 – this room is currently undergoing even more renovations so I have updated this post to keep readers updated. Be sure to follow along when it is done.
And…even more in 2021. This is the project that never seems to be done.

In hindsight the orange paint just made the room that much darker.
