Every design project hits this point. The point where the biggest part of the makeover is done and you are faced with the challenge of pulling all of the small details together to complete the room and your vision. #oneroomchallenge #bghorc
Either by this time we are totally burned out on the project and some of the “small details” never get done, or we may have lost the original vision along the way and can’t decide how to finish the project.
I have been victim to both of these scenarios. The struggle is real!
Finishing a design projects takes dedication to finishing up the small design details.
This week for our family room makeover project for the One Room Challenge, I have been shopping for accessories, picking up new framed art, and trying items in several places. We are just days away from picking up the new furniture so I’m sure some of my design decisions will change before the final reveal but I wanted to give you a glimpse of just a few of the items I am working with.
But first, one of the things I had to take care of this week is furniture repair and maintenance.
Our long leather chaise lounge chair that sits in the far corner, mainly because it doesn’t fit anywhere else in the room, was in desperate need of a cleaning and polish. We actually bought this piece not long after we purchased the house at a Mitchell + Gold outline in Hickory, NC. It was a bit of an impulse buy at the time but it has served us well over the years as comfy seating and an place to sleep when someone in the house has been sick.
Unfortunately it is also showing some stains, scratches, and wear and tear.
I ordered my favorite leather conditioning products from Amazaon called Skidmore’s Leather Cream.
Skidmore’s Leather Cream can’t erase the scratches entirely, but it can help fade them and blend them in with the natural wear of the leather. Apply the product with a cloth and buff until you get the finish and shine you want.
Much better!
Now on to the photos of a few of the accessories and decor items I have been playing around with.

Shopping at the At Home store.

Must have military prints

Too cute!

Old banks and ceramic dogs.

Sneak peak at the new drapery panels.
Be sure to visit next week for the final room reveal.
Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically as something done for the Lord and not for men.” Colossians 3:23
I too have a leather sofa that is full of scratches. I’m going to have to try some of that cream.
Thanks for visiting Claire. I have used this cream for several different types of leather products and it has worked great every time. You just need to keep reapplying it every six months or so to keep the leather in good condition.
