My husband and I recently took a vacation to a tiny house hotel and had a blast! Since then I have become more and more enthused over tiny house living – or just tiny house vacations spots and how to build a tiny house. This week I am thrilled to have a guest post by David from Tiny House Society about which tiny house style best suits your own needs.

There is something so satisfying about being able to say, “I made that myself!” Whether that may be a room you designed or a chair that you painted; creating something with your brain and your own two hands is something to be proud of.
The latest and greatest in creative projects comes in the form of the tiny house movement–a movement where people are shifting towards living simply and purposefully in itsy-bitsy homes. Photos of these innovative and unique homes are popping up all over the web and people are absolutely loving them! If you’ve had a browse you’ve probably seen there are many different styles of tiny houses out there, as well as a wealth of tiny home information to peruse. Let’s first consider the following:
Tiny House On Wheels Or Tiny House On Foundations
There are two categories of tiny houses; tiny houses on wheels and tiny houses on foundations. First, take a close look at your lifestyle. A tiny house on wheels is perfect for the homeowner who wants to travel without ever having to leave home behind. Built securely on a trailer, these types of tiny houses can contain all of the amenities of a traditional house. In contrast, the tiny house on foundations is suited for the homeowner who is okay with building their home in a solid location. A tiny house on foundations allows for more design freedom, as well as the opportunity to add more outdoor features such as a garden or patio.
So which style of tiny house is right for you? Let’s get inspired by taking a look at some of the popular styles of tiny houses that are out there!
Tiny Cabin
When you think of a cabin, no electricity and maybe some taxidermy comes to mind. This is not the case in the tiny house world of today! On the contrary, tiny cabins can be luxurious little retreats with all the fixins’. Traditionally built to withstand the elements, these tiny houses are perfect if you are interested in living off-grid with sustainability in mind.

Small Motorhome
A popular choice for the DIY-er, this is a great option if you want to get creative with an already fabricated shell. If you like the idea of waking up somewhere new each day, then an RV-style tiny house is the way to go.

Tiny House Shed
Turn the cluttered garden shed in your backyard into the perfect little getaway or guesthouse! This is a fun project for a price tag that can be considerably lower than other tiny house builds. Consider building a tiny porch on the front to create more space for entertaining!

I could only live in a tiny house if I could use the rest of my house as a giant craft room! lol. I am fascinated by the use of space, however. #HomeMattersParty
That would totally work Emily!
Taking a vacation to a tiny house sounds like fun! My kids and I sometimes watch the Tiny House show on TV and are amazed at how people live in them full time. #HomeMattersParty
I agree Nicole. I don’t think I could live in one full time either.
