This month for the Craft Room DeStash Challenge, I have finally painted my retro camper birdhouse.
Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C’mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.
Let’s meet this month’s bloggers!!

I have always liked bird houses. They are like miniature versions of real houses that you can paint and decorate just like a real house. In the past, I have even put miniature chairs on the outside porch feature of some miniature bird houses I painted.
To me, birdhouses should be as fun and whimsical.
I just love mid-century modern furnishings and all things retro. When I saw this birdhouse in Michael’s a few months ago, I just had to have it. Even better, it was on clearance!
One day I will own a full size retro camper!
For this month’s Craft Room DeStash challenge, I decided to pull this retro camper birdhouse off the shelf and actually paint it. I am sure just painting it will encourage me to find it a place in my home. One of the reasons I participate in this monthly challenge is because it is just so satisfying and fun to finish a project.
And it keeps my craft stash cleaned out for future craft purchases I am sure to make.
I painted the birdhouse in the colors and style of a real vintage camper. Including metallic silver craft paint, bright blue windows and doors, and a white stripe. For the tires, I decided to glue on tiny white buttons in the center of the tires as a cute accent. The only thing I spent money on for this project was the metallic silver paint.
Not sure where this retro camper birdhouse will end up in my home over time. I often move accessories around as I work on other projects. For now it has a place in our front room on a vintage dresser.
Be sure to check out all of the other talented bloggers who participated this month.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Donna, what a cute little bird house. I made one, too, many years ago. Sadly I used it for outside while I didn’t protect the paint properly and it had to go after only one Season. I guess this means I get to make a new one, though, huh? Caming is fun and I hope you get your very own retro camper soon.
I have several bird houses around my house – they make such nice decorations. I’ve never seen a camper one before though – that is just too cute!
I love me a vintage camper! So cute
Your birdhouse is too sweet and adorable! You should put it outside to see if the birdies like it, too!
Thanks for visiting Gail. I will consider that.
Oh my! This camper is so cute! I love campers and birdhouses, and I love the colors you painted this one. That blue is so pretty! Super cute! Pinning!
Thanks T’onna. I think it came out so adorable too. Thanks for visiting.
